MEC is a provider of Special Religious Education in local primary schools.
Our SRE teachers are trained according to the ICCOREIS curriculum (http://www.iccoreis.asn.au/teaching-sre/training/), which includes a module on classroom management. The training is delivered by Hunter Christian Scripture (http://www.huntersre.org.au/). Classroom management is also discussed and reviewed at the regular team meetings where we focus on applying the strategies we have learnt. All teachers are encouraged to find out the behaviour strategies used in the classes in which they work, and incorporate them into their teaching.
MEC is part of the Safe Church Training Agreement (SCTA). Everyone at MEC who works with children is required to complete safe ministry training and obtain a current working with children check approval as required by NSW legislation. The same applies for MEC’s Special Religious Education teachers. We use Safe Ministry Essentials from Anglican Youth Works (https://www.youthworks.net/safeministry/training).
All SRE teachers must have a WWCC number before entering a classroom.
